Let's Go

Part of the adventure was to have a tour of the runway at DTW...more than once. Apparently winds kept changing so our take off was called off several times. This, in addition to a backup in Minneapolis led for a harrowing fast walk on my part and a final sprint on Carl's part to get to our connecting flight before the doors closed ...phew!

Arrived in Anchorage and called for the shuttle to the rv rental and thus began a couple hour waiting game. After filling out necessary paperwork and declining additional insurances, we were off. First stop Walmart...ugh :-(   for supples. We actually had our first meal in Alaska in the parking lot of Walmart...does that make us true RV'ers?

We drove south about 20 mile to Bird Creek Campground and hunkered down for the night. The 4 hour time difference and travel took a toll on me. Had a problem with the power source in the RV so we were totally off the grid. This campground had no hook-ups, just pit toilets.

We were up at 5 and headed back to the RV dealership by 8 to have them scout out the potential electrical problem with the rig. Got things sorted out and then we hit the road for Seward. Incredible scenery along the Turnagain Arm of the Cook Inlet. Mountains, ocean, blue skies....incredible. We passed a beach where dozens of eagles were hanging around. Quite a site!

Found a campsite in downtown Seward for the next two nights. The campground is located on the waterfront with a great view of a Carnival Cruise ship docked here. We also drove up to see the Exit Glacier part of Kenai Fjords National Park. Tomorrow a cruise to see glaciers and hopefully wildlife.

and now for the photos requested by our Grandchildren.....<3 p="">
